Latest Statistics Canada results on Cell Phone Only Households

More than 1 in 5 Canadian HH’s are cell phone only (CPO). According to Stats Canada, in 2013, 21% of HH’s use a cell phone exclusively versus 13% in 2010.

CPO HH’s are more pronounced in younger HH’s (where all members are under 35).  In 2013, 60% of these HH’s were CPO versus 39% in 2010 and 26% in 2008.  CPO HH’s for those 55 and over rose from 2% in 2008 to 6% in 2013.

In 2013, 83% of Canadian HH’s had an active cell phone, up from 78% in 2010.
