Do Not Call
Research organizations in Canada and the US have been dealing with respondent
cooperation and the issues arising from Do Not Call Legislation. The CRTC
in Canada and the FCC in the US have developed specific laws and implemented
registration systems that have an impact on the survey industry.
ASDE had the fore-site to implement a Do Not Call Cooperative for
Canadian firms to assist them in maintaining nationally accurate lists
of respondents who are adamant in their objections to being
contacted. This was in advance of the CRTC requirement the survey
organizations maintain their own in-house DNC lists.
